GMI Ensemble

GMI is India’s leading contemporary music institute offering innovative programs that enable young musicians to shape their future in the global music industry. The institute was founded in 2011 by Aditya and Tarun Balani with the mission of bringing a distinctive and modern approach to music education to India.

GMI is proud to be a member of the Berklee Global Partners and is also the only official teacher of the Berklee College of Music, USA, Curriculum in India.

Located just 30 minutes outside New Delhi, GMI Campus in Greater Noida is a state-of-the-art facility which includes a 150-seater auditorium, amphitheater, multiple classrooms, teaching studios, recording and mixing studio, a mixed-media library with specialist music software, students lounges, practice rooms, on-site student housing and a large cafeteria.

Meet the musicians

Eleonora Bianchini

Eleonora Bianchini is the Voice faculty for the September 2019 term at GMI. She is a singer and composer originally from Perugia, Italy who manages to create an intriguing and warm atmosphere through the sound of her voice. In May 2016 she was elected by the readers of JAZZIT (an Italian Jazz Newspaper), as one of the "Best Italian Female Voice" ranking on 4th position. Miss. Bianchini was awarded a scholarship for the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Boston in 2003 and was chosen by Italian musician Giovanni Tommaso as the singer for the Berklee student quintet who performed for Umbria Winter Jazz Festival 2002. She obtained her Jazz Degree from Santa Cecicilia Conservatory in Rome. In March 2018, Eleonora released her new album called "Surya" inspired by her experiences in trio with the musicians Marco Siniscalco and Alessandro Marzi.

João Bittencourt

João Bittencourt is the Piano faculty for September 2019 term at GMI. He is an accomplished pianist, accordionist, composer, arranger, producer and musical director from Brazil. João showcased his talents as a composer, musical director and instrumentalist in more than 40 award winning theatrical shows in the past few years. He has also composed the soundtrack for the award winning short-film Bodas, which was selected to more than 20 international festivals, including Cannes Festival 2016. 

In 2012 he was awarded by the Musical support found by the Cultural Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro to record the CD ‘João Bittencourt Apresenta Julio Reis’

aditya balani

Aditya Balani is a multi-faceted guitarist, singer-songwriter, music producer, educator. Co-founder and director at GMI he constantly strives to bring innovative teaching methodologies for his harmony, songwriting, music production and guitar courses. Aditya's work has transcended stylistic and international borders and has been featured on BBC Asia Beats, MTV Coke Studio, Pepsi MTV Indies, and BBC Radio to name a few. He has collaborated with artists from around the world including Shubha Mudgal, Khamira, Shilpa Rao, Sudeep Sen, Bellatrix and Mr. Woodnote. Constants and Variables (EP) won him Best Pop Artist at the Radio City Freedom Awards ’15 and has been listed among the Top 10 EP’s of 2015 by Rolling Stone India. His song Quicksand featured on Jazz Revelation Records, was nominated for best song (Jazz/Blues) at the BIG STAR Indian Music Academy Awards ’10.
